This event is one of the most fun and unique events offered to the running community. It allows all participants to try their hand at not only a 5k race, but also the bench press! All competitors choose their own weight (45 pound minimum for women and 135 pound minimum for men) and attempt a maximum of ten repetitions. Then the strongest get to start the race sooner, allowing those who didn't lift as much to "chase" them. It's a combination event of strength and speed and fun for all ages and ability levels!
